How to get there: On the road from Vratsa to Sofia through the Iskar gorge (30 km).
The monastery dates back to the Second Bulgarian Kingdom during the time of Tsar Ivan Shishman. Later, a church school was created, where books, lives and gospels were written and copied. Relics such as the Cherepish Gospel, bound in 1512 with gold covers and decorated with biblical scenes, date from that time. In 1797 St. Sophronius of Vrachanski took refuge in the Assumption. In the monastery, you will see a museum corner of the poet Ivan Vazov, a chapel - an ossuary, the Rushid house and the church "St. George".
