The fortress is located on a rocky massif above the bed of the river Iskar. The traces of two fortified settlements from the end of the Stone-Copper Age and the Neolithic, destroyed by natural fires, are preserved here. One of the most significant finds is the "Sanctuary of the Tour" from the end of the Stone-Copper Age, which has no analogue in Bulgaria. The wild bovine tur is deified as the ancients believed that it supported the world on its horns.
The history of "Kaleto" continues through the centuries, when a Roman fortification and a fortified settlement existed in this place from the 4th - 6th centuries, which continued to develop during the late Roman and Byzantine periods. In 2013 the complex has been restored and turned into a tourist attraction. A central place in it is occupied by a model of the Roman and late antique fortress "Kaleto" (II - V century). Archaeological findings from the 5 different historical periods through which the fortress passed are exhibited here.
