How to get there: from Oršova on the road along the Danube, which goes to the hill above the city. There are signposts
This monastery has a special history. It was founded by the famous journalist Pamfil Șeicaru, who fought in the Oršova region during the First World War, as a junior lieutenant of the 17th infantry regiment. The Saint Anna Monastery was built between 1936 and 1939, a period in which Sheikaru was the director of Curentul magazine and a member of the Parliament of Romania. The name St. Anna was chosen after the mother of its founder. After the end of the construction works, only the church was consecrated, but not the monastery, which during the communist regime it functioned as a restaurant. Only in 1990 the building was returned to the rightful owner and its purpose was restored.
