The rock sculpture of Decebalus

How to get there: on national road 57 from Orshova to Moldavia Noua

The face of the Dacian king Decebalus is a bas-relief 55 m high and 25 m wide, located on the rocky bank of the Danube River. King Decebalus was the last Dacian king who fought against the Roman emperors Domitian and Trajan to preserve his country's independence. The making of the sculpture lasted more than 10 years (1994-2004) and more than 300 sculptors - climbers worked on it.
